Frequently Asked Questions...

Absolutely — all of our studios are suitable for year-round use.

Most of our garden buildings fall under permitted development rights, meaning planning permission is often not required.

The maximum footprint is 30m². Anything larger will normally require Building Regulations approval. It is also important to be aware that under Permitted Development rights, all extensions and outbuildings combined (including sheds, garages, and garden rooms) must not cover more than 50% of the land surrounding the original house. If you exceed this limit, you may need planning permission, even if your garden room is under 30m².

Garden buildings do not usually require planning permission, provided they are no higher than 2.5m if located within 2m of a boundary, or no higher than 3m if located more than 2m from a boundary. We always recommend checking with your local council, as some areas may be subject to additional planning restrictions.

We always aim to start the installation of your garden room within 5-6 weeks of placing your order.

On-site installation for most of our studios is completed within 4 working days.

Yes — foundations, installation and full assembly are included as standard with all our buildings.

Our garden rooms are typically installed using ground screws, a modern alternative to traditional concrete foundations. Ground screws can often be installed in a single day, with minimal excavation and no need to wait for concrete to cure. They provide a strong and durable foundation while reducing disruption to your garden. They're also an excellent solution for sloping or uneven ground, helping create a stable base for your garden room with a more environmentally friendly installation process.

There are only two occasions when we will require you to be at home. The first is the day when we install the base - so we can agree its final position prior to casting it. The second is the first day we put the electrics in, so you can agree the positioning of the sockets and heater. We will also need access to your house for connections.

You can't use your garden studio as self-contained living accommodation unless the necessary planning permission and building regulations approvals have been obtained.

Garden rooms must remain freestanding (minimum 400mm distance from the boundary).

A garden studio can be a great way to add value to your property. While estimates vary, it may increase your home's value by around 5% to 15%. For example, a property worth £400,000 could see an uplift of £20,000 to £60,000. The exact increase depends on factors such as location, property type, the size and quality of the garden studio, and the amount of garden space it occupies.

We offer a curated range of standard garden studio sizes to accommodate different spaces and uses. At this time, we don't offer fully bespoke studios.
